What is angel investor?

An angel investor is an individual who invests their own money in early-stage startups, typically at pre-seed or seed, often alongside advice and introductions.

Angels may invest alone, in syndicates or through angel groups. On Cofounder for Startups, angels state their check size and thesis on their card.
